Why should water be our best friend?!
It is very important to drink water often, without waiting to feel thirsty. By the time you begin to feel thirsty, the body is already dehydrated to a level of 0,8% to 2% of body weight.
Water and exercise…
Water consumption pre, during and post exercise is vital to ensure the body and muscles are hydrated. Water is a key component for providing the muscles with energy, why is this you ask?
Water circulates through our body via blood delivering oxygen to cells; and as individual muscles work harder and blood flow towards that area is increased - the increase in water consumption will mean more oxygen being carried towards the working area.
The body is made up on average of 60% water - I know MINDBLOWING.. All of our major organs consist of, at a minimum, 50% water. Therefore, it is recommended to drink a minimum of 8 cups of water a day!!
This is just a RECOMMENDATION though - with regular daily activities and the body losing water continuously via urine, sweating etc it could be argued to aim for 2.5 - 3 litres a day! Benefits of drinking water daily include:
Helping form saliva for digestion
Regulates body temp
Helps deliver oxygen all around the body
Lubricates joints
STRENGTHENS IMMUNE SYSTEM (COVID FRIENDLY!!)
Flushes body waste and toxins
Improves skin
Assist with weight loss
improves brain functions
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY it is the NUMBER 1 HANGOVER CURE by incorporating all the benefits above to return the body back to its healthy state!
