Meet the Members: Vicki

As part of our Meet the Members series, we asked Vicki about her experience of training at JW Fitness.


Please explain a little about yourself and why you chose to train with JW Fitness.

I’d had some time off training and was feeling the need to get back to it. John seemed to not only offer consistent training based on evidence (not insta nonsense) that I could fit flexibly into the rest of my life. The testimonials made me see it was a little community that has fun too.


What, if any, were your reservations before starting training with us at JW Fitness?

I didn’t have any reservations as I’d had a PT before. I knew what I wanted from my next one and initially that was focused on what I was doing in the gym rather than outside of it.


How did we help you eliminate any reservations you had?

John was open and honest in the consultation. He recognised I wasn’t at that point looking for support and coaching with nutrition etc and he supported that and focused on making sure I was getting the best from my sessions.


What are your biggest achievements since training at JW Fitness?

Dropping a very heavy back squat and frightening everyone. Spilling chalk over the gym floor - haha! To be honest while hitting PBs and having held gym records for deadlifts at points is great, the consistency with training is probably the greatest thing I’ve achieved.


What keeps you coming back to train with us?

The reason I attend consistently is because JW Fitness is a safe space. I can walk into a session having had the worst day and I will always end up come out having had a laugh or feeling better. The team are all really supportive and I know when I go to a session I’ll be pushed to get a good workout - which I need with a desk bound job! 


If you would recommend us to your friends and family then please explain why below.

I would! I know a lot of people to avoid training due to previous injury or health conditions and I have seen how amazing all the team are at supporting people with any training challenge you put in front of them. Excellent training knowledge, based on evidence and it’s always handled sensitively.
