As part of our Meet the Members series, we asked Andrea

about her experience of training at JW Fitness.
Please explain a little about yourself and why you chose to train with JW Fitness.
I've always enjoyed being active and finding myself new challenges. Over the years I've taken part in and experimented with many different activities and sport, but never quite found 'my tribe'. Plus also gave up on some because of acquiring injuries.
Then 3 and a half years ago I was researching the local area for some inspiration regarding finding the 'right gym for me' and/or Personal Trainer.
I knew the big flashy/well polished commercial gyms weren't for me and that I was looking for somewhere less intimidating but at the same time wanted somewhere/someone to take my fitness and health seriously.
And there he was!......John Warburton! I read and watched some of his social media posts, messaged him and arranged a 1:1 consultation. As soon as I both walked into the JW Fitness Gym and completed my consultation with John I knew JW Fitness was the place for me.
What, if any, were your reservations before starting training with us at JW Fitness?
I was in my late (late) forties when I made the decision to join JW Fitness and I admit I was so worried I would be surrounded by much stronger people than me and anxious I would be judged by the urm, 'much younger' PT's.
How did we help you eliminate any reservations you had?
However, I don't remember those worries lasting any further past my first JW Fitness PT session! John and Anthony never pressured nor judged me, if anything I felt respected and massively encouraged as a new member.
I needn't have worried about the other members either. I was, as is every new member, of the JW Fitness community welcomed and supported, and still am to this day.
What are your biggest achievements since training at JW Fitness?
One of my biggest achievements is how much physically stronger and fitter I have become and how this transfers over to and impacts massively upon my life outside of the gym.
After the first 12 months of training with JW Fitness I knocked minutes off my open water swimming PB!
My other big personal achievement since training with JW Fitness has been the positive impact upon my own personal health. Asthma hardly ever bothers me now! And I have a rare blood cancer which I believe would be debilitating me and progressing a lot faster if I wasn't prioritising my physical and overall health by training with JW Fitness.
Finally.....actually liking my body! Lets face it I've been a woman of the early 2000's - one of the many who spent years (not to mention a lot of money!) on the various diet and slimming programmes shoved in our faces at the time, all in aid of achieving (what we were told) was the 'perfect slim and tiny body'! John and JW Fitness has been working a lot with me regarding this over the last 3 years - shifting and changing this mindset. And it's worked! I'm proud of and like how strong my body feels now (and I definitely have no desire to be skinny!)
What keeps you coming back to train with us?
I GO and actually WANT to go every week!
John, Anthony and Felix are amazing coaches; they genuinely want to help you to develop and grow stronger, be healthier, fitter and believe in yourself.
I wouldn't trust any other PTs to coach me.
And I love the FT Fitness community. The PT sessions are challenging and exhilarating, but the atmosphere is also relaxed with a lot of humour too....the perfect balance!
If you would recommend us to your friends and family then please explain why below.
Because if you're looking for a gym (and amazing community) to train at and be expertly coached, have a laugh and definitely feel stronger when you walk out - I can't recommend JW Fitness highly enough!!
The gym environment is definitely NOT intimidating and the other members are just as committed, friendly, welcoming and supportive.
